What VaultSandbox Is

VaultSandbox is open source software for production-like email testing. It's a self-hosted email testing gateway that validates your full email stack (SMTP, TLS, DNS, SPF/DKIM) entirely inside your infrastructure. We don't host it for you.

This website is for documentation, updates, and our newsletter. The actual software lives in our GitHub repositories.

Open Source Licenses

Different parts of VaultSandbox use different licenses:

• Core Gateway: Licensed under AGPLv3 (if you modify and distribute it, you must share your changes)
• SDKs and UI: Licensed under MIT (do whatever you want, just keep the copyright notice)

Check the LICENSE files in each GitHub repository for the full legal text.

No Warranties (Important!)

VaultSandbox is provided "as is." Translation:

• We can't guarantee it'll work perfectly for your use case
• We're not responsible if something breaks
• You're using it at your own risk
• Test it thoroughly before using in production

This is standard for open source software. We build it with care, but we can't be liable for every possible scenario.

Limitation of Liability (Also Important!)

If something goes wrong - data loss, security breach, system crash, whatever - we're not liable for damages. This includes direct damages, indirect damages, lost profits, or any other consequences.

Harsh? Maybe. But this is open source software you run yourself. You have full control and full responsibility. That's the trade-off for it being free and self-hosted.

Use It Responsibly

Common sense rules:

• Don't use VaultSandbox for anything illegal
• Don't use it to send spam or abuse email services
• Don't try to hack this website or our infrastructure
• Don't misrepresent yourself or VaultSandbox to others

Newsletter Subscription

If you subscribe to our newsletter:

• We'll send you updates about VaultSandbox
• You can unsubscribe anytime (link in every email)
• We won't spam you or sell your email (see our Privacy Policy)

Future Paid Features

The Core Gateway is free forever. We're planning to offer optional paid enterprise features (like an Enterprise Control Plane with SSO, audit logs, and retention policies) that work alongside the free gateway.

Think of it like this: The free gateway does all the email testing. The paid features add governance and compliance tools on top of it. You'll always need the free gateway — the paid part just enhances it for enterprise needs.

When we launch paid features:

• The Core Gateway stays free and open source — no limits on domains, messages, inboxes, or volume
• Paid enterprise features will be optional add-ons, not replacements
• We'll add separate terms covering payment, refunds, and cancellation for paid features only
• Newsletter subscribers will get early notice and pricing details

Right now, everything is free and open source with no artificial limits. The gateway will always be free.

Your Data

Since VaultSandbox is self-hosted, all your test emails and data stay on your infrastructure. We never see it. The only data we have about you is covered in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

We might update these terms occasionally, especially when we add paid features. When we do:

• We'll update the date at the top of this page
• For major changes, we'll notify newsletter subscribers
• Continuing to use the website means you accept the new terms
